New York, NY / Bend, OR – Quartet of Parker, Holdsworth, Ibadin & Penzenstadler took home the elite 4x800m relay title in New York, while Ryan Mahalsky finished in the top-20 at USATF Cross Country National Championships

This past weekend, the Club was split to travel to multiple meets across the country. At the Armory in New York City, Julian Parker, Derek Holdsworth, Edose Ibadin and Sam Penzenstadler took on tough competition in Main Street Elite TC and New Jersey New York TC in the elite 4x800m section. The first leg of the relay set out at an extremely tactical pace for the first 2 laps as the leaders came through 400m in 57-58 seconds, Parker kept his teammates in contention finishing in 2 seconds of the leaders. Derek Holdsworth took the first exchange and split 1:49.41 as the second leg, handing off to Edose Ibadin just off the leaders. Ibadin ran 1:48.80 to hand-off to anchor Sam Penzenstadler in the lead with just under a second lead. Penzenstadler held off 2016 Olympian (1500m) and multiple time 800m NCAA Champion Robby Andrews to take home the win in 7:22.92.
Earlier in the day, Will Crocker took the track for the Men’s Invitational Mile, finishing 9th overall in a time of 4:12.90.
Across the country in Bend, Oregon, Ryan Mahalsky single-handedly represented DTC at the USATF Cross Country National Championships. Mahalsky took 20th place in a time of 31:50, averaging roughly 5:08 per mile on snow and mud covered course 10k course.
DTC will take Valentine’s Day Weekend off and will compete again at the Ocean Breeze Grand Prix in Staten Island, NY.
