Ryan Mahalsky is a New Jersey native and graduate of Lehigh University. Ryan was not a top recruit out of high school but steadily improved throughout each year at Lehigh, finishing with a breakout senior season. He was nearly an All American at the 2014 NCAA Cross Country Championships and continued that success in track season qualifying to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 10,000m.
Although he is an adjunct professor and assistant track/xc coach at American with future aspirations to coach, Ryan came to Washington DC specifically to train and run under Coach Centrowitz. In the span of eight months he has found a great fit in DC, training under Coach Centrowitz, with his experienced teammate Chris Kwiatkowski. Recognizing that Ryan may have flown under the radar as he did in high school, Coach Centrowitz has taken a patient approach with Ryan’s transition to DC and post-collegiate competition. Ryan is extremely hungry to race but raced sparingly this indoor season as he has a goal of making the 2016 Olympic Trials this outdoor season.
