As a multi-time national champion and one of the best middle distance track athletes in the Bahamas, James Carey brings a unique background to the District Track Club. Track in many Caribbean Islands is like football in the United States. With an obvious love for the sport James decided that he was still hungry to compete after graduating from Howard University in 2016.
Although he will likely head home back one day to the Bahamas, James is staying in the U.S. to obtain his Masters Degree in Accounting from Catholic University and will eventually start full time work at PwC this fall.
James hustles his way through DC to practice most mornings via bike, bus, or metro with the intent of training to become the fastest Bahamian Half Miler of All-Time. The current record is 1:49.54 set by Chris Brown in 1998 and there will also be other athletes, already close to that mark, aiming to break that record this year.
